Policies and Procedures

The client agrees to and acknowledges the following:

1)  Helping Paws Professional Pet Care (here forward referred to as “Helping Paws”) and its
employees agree to provide services stated in this contract in a reliable and trustworthy
manner.  In consideration of these services and as an express condition thereof, the client
expressly waives any and all claims against Helping Paws or its employees, unless arising from
negligence or intentional misconduct on the part of Helping Paws.

2)  Helping Paws or its employees shall not be held responsible for the loss, injury, death, or
actions of any pet that the client has let outside or has instructed the walker to allow outside
while walker is not there.  This includes pets with doggie doors and outdoor pets.

3)  Helping Paws Professional Pet Care is insured by Business Insurers of the Carolinas, 800
Eastowne Drive, Suite 208, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514, and is bonded by St. Paul Travelers Group,
385 Washington Street, Saint Paul, MN 55102.

4)  The client understands that all pets (where appropriate) must have a veterinarian and must
be up to date on rabies and other relevant vaccinations.

5)  All dogs must be walked on a leash, no exceptions.

6)  All dog walks will not include other animals unless specified in writing by the client.

7)  The client is responsible for observing all state local and dog licensing requirements for
their pets.

8)  Helping Paws is not responsible for wilted, dead or otherwise unhealthy plants.  Helping
Paws will work hard to follow your written directions as precisely as possible, but cannot be
responsible if the results are not favorable.  Please place all indoor plants together on a
waterproof surface in plain sight, as your pet sitter is not responsible for water damaged areas
or missed plants.

9)  Helping Paws is not responsible for damage to the home beyond the control of the Pet
Sitter.  This includes, but is not limited to leaks, electrical problems, and acts of nature.  In
these situations, the company will attempt to contact the customer and then the emergency
contact before making a subjective decision on dealing with the problem.  All repairs and
related fees (including Special Service emergency service time and coordination fees) will be
paid by the client, or fully reimbursed to Helping Paws within 14 days.

10)  Helping Paws is not liable for any loss or damage in the event a burglary or other crime
that should occur while under this contract.  Pet Owner agrees to secure home prior to leaving
the premises.  Helping Paws will re-secure the home to the best of its ability at the end of each
visit.  While keys are in the possession of a Pet Sitter, they will be either on the Sitter’s
physical person, or be properly stored an undisclosed location.

11)  Helping Paws maintains a daily schedule for all pet visits.  We will attempt to satisfy the
client’s requests for pet visits at a specific time, although a 1-hour window is acceptable for
verbally agreed times.

12)  Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and services are usually completed during this time
unless we are behind schedule.

13)  Helping Paws reserves the right to deny service or terminate service because of safety
concerns, financial concerns, or inappropriate or uncomfortable situations.

14)  Helping Paws reserves the right to take pet(s) to vet if necessary, and will inform the pet
(s) owner or emergency designate as soon as possible.  Client is responsible for all applicable
charges.

15)  Helping Paws will notify the client in the unlikely event a dog walker or pet sitter is
unavailable for a scheduled appointment.  During this period the client is responsible for the
care of their pet, and accordingly will not be charged for any missed visit.  Helping Paws will
also notify the client in advance if a contract employee is dispatched to cover a scheduled
appointment.

16)  Payment for Helping Paws services is expected within 7 calendar days after client receives
an itemized invoice.  Clients will be billed on Friday of each week for that week’s services.
